Illegal Immigration and English as a Second Language and Media Bias

The Today Show was on in my house this morning.  They’re doing this thing on Mexico and they had a tidbit talking about how American cities are being transformed into Spanish-speaking bastions.  Confrontations were shown between Americans and illegal immigrant groups.  And then they interviewed an immigrant.  Such pity we were supposed to feel… but this was an immigrant, not an illegal immigrant.  I know they are out there, but I have yet to meet anyone who objects to legal immigrants.  It’s the illegal ones, and the resulting change on culture by fiat, that people object to.

And yet the Today Show thought they could respond to such concerns by interviewing a legal immigrant.  Is the distinction between legal and illegal so difficult to understand?
